Data collected and purposes

When you visit our website, we process various data to provide and improve the website, to produce statistics and to meet legal requirements.

1. Access data

When you access our website, our web server writes a technical log with the following information:

• IP address
• Date and time of access
• Page requested and status code
• Browser and operating system used (user agent)

This data is used only to ensure trouble-free operation and to defend against attacks. The log is overwritten automatically, usually after a few weeks. The website runs on our own server in Switzerland.

2. Web analytics (Umami)

We count visits with Umami, a web analytics tool that we run ourselves on our server in Switzerland (stats.biber.solar). It shows us which pages are read and where visitors come from – not who you are.

• No cookies are set and nothing is stored on your device.
• Your IP address is not stored; it is only used to determine the country when counting.
• We store: page requested, referring page, country, device type, operating system, browser, screen size and language. Visits are grouped using an identifier that changes daily.
• The data is not passed on and is deleted after 25 months.
• If «Do Not Track» is enabled in your browser, you are not counted.

3. Contacting us

If you contact us via the channels provided (phone, email, Signal, WhatsApp, Threema), your data is used only to handle your request and is stored only where necessary.

4. Cookies

This website does not set any cookies.

5. homi

Our energy management service homi (homi.solar, the homi app and all pages with a login, e.g. home.biber.solar) is covered by the detailed homi privacy policy: sign-up, negative price alert, customer accounts, energy data and push notifications.

Third-party providers and embedded content

1. Videos and links to YouTube

We link to videos on YouTube (Google Ireland Limited). Data is only transmitted to YouTube once you open such a link. For more information, see Google's privacy policy.

2. Address search and maps (geo.html)

The address search tool sends the address you enter to the federal search service (api3.geo.admin.ch, swisstopo) and displays maps from map.geo.admin.ch and geo.zh.ch. These services receive the address and your IP address; their privacy policies apply.

3. Affiliate links to external providers

Our website uses affiliate links to products and services we recommend (e.g. Proton Mail, Logitech). If you reach a provider's website via one of these links, the third party may set cookies to track where users come from. The respective provider is responsible for that data processing.

Legal basis for processing

Data is processed on the following legal bases under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: processing for the performance of a contract or to take steps prior to entering into a contract.
• Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: processing for our legitimate interests, e.g. the security of our website and analysing its use to improve it.

Your rights

You have the right to obtain information about the personal data we hold about you at any time. You also have the right to rectification, erasure or restriction of processing and to data portability, as far as legally possible.
